My President is black...but his house is all white!

I have been diagnosed as bipolar but don’t take the medicine, I pray.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with me, God made me this way.

From time to time I have a mood swing.

It could be about anything…

Just a bipolar incident…and now I have to vent…

Remix: Young Jeezy & Jay Z

”My President is black…in fact he’s half white, so even in a racist mind he’s half right… if you have a racist mind you’ll be ayight…my President is black but his house is all white, Rosa Parks sat so Martin Luther could walk; Martin Luther walked so Barack Obama could run; Barack Obama ran so ALL the children could fly…”
Amazing how history repeats…or rhymes as I like to say…Could it have been any more historic? Barack Obama accepted the democratic nomination on the 45Th Anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther Kings “I Have a Dream” speech. How beautiful is that…Dr. King had a dream and 45 years later with Obama’s nomination it came true. I’d say Jay Z summed it up with his verse I quoted at the top of this post, what is so very cool is that Young Jeezy had the vision to make that song even before Obama officially became president, thus the reason for a remix.
I can’t decipher what makes me so emotional lately, I’d lie if I said I didn’t get teary-eyed after hearing McCain’s concession speech in fact I turned to my husband and told him that we should “do it”…cause I had never been with a black man when the world felt it was okay…he just said I was crazy and laughed. I suppose I joke to cover my deep emotionalism in regards to black history. Now how can a Mexican girl have such a predilection for black people, and black history? It goes way deeper than “I have a mixed child, a Blaxican” so deep it may be partially used to diagnose my current mental state.
Currently I have been extra sensitive ever since I first heard about Obama, ever since I googled “Obama’s wife” and verified she was a black woman…YES I did that, and no disrespect to any interracial couples, as I am married to a man who is NOT Mexican…still as a woman of color I was so happy that this man who had set out to represent America and who would become our first Black President, had a black woman and black children!!! Beautiful, now who can argue that the United States has a needed a model of a black family that would be respected and revered for years to come. Successful black marriages have existed long before Barack and Michelle, yet I think some people who still live in caves might not know that “colored people” have come a long way and if you thought the USA wasn’t ready….TOO LATE! I love it! I feel that this now paves a way for Hispanics of all kinds to make a name for themselves as well, traditionally us Hispanics are all about the “familia”, hence the reason politics have not been our forte so to speak…well America I think that might too be changing and can’t wait!

History in the makes...

I have been diagnosed as bipolar but don’t take the medicine, I pray.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with me, God made me this way.

From time to time I have a mood swing.

It could be about anything…

Just a bipolar incident…and now I have to vent…

WOW….how else can I describe my feelings and emotions living and breathing history in the makes, it goes way deeper than Hillary & Obama that I can assure you. I have to admit I was a little sad for women just a tad…come on a “Woman President” it would have been official women CAN have any position and do all jobs equal to men. Apparently the USA was not ready and that is okay, forget women’s rights and on to equal rights. Back to my WOW…we have a black democratic presidential candidate finally…220 years later. Our country has come a long way even though the headlines in the news might beg to differ. “The Fist Bump Heard Round the World” so let’s not make it a race issue or let’s recognize it as it is…Barack and Michelle gave each other “dap” and this is what the news reported as if the USA was in shock at the gesture and only the “African Americans” understood what it meant. Well get over it and GET READY there are sure to be many more things said and done that are beyond the normal comprehension of society, and it’s about time!!! What does surprise me is the Clinton turned McCain supporters, are you kidding me!? Dare I dwell into the reasoning behind this, I think not for I’d be blogging for the rest of my life with no peace. Study your history, read some non-fiction watch some documentaries on your very own unique background where did you come from and where do you wish to go? Who do you want to take you there? Not surprisingly Clinton had the Latino vote, and McCain is very popular among Hispanics for him being one of the original authors of the comprehensive immigration bill in the senate. Well as a Mexican-American woman married to a black man raised by a white man, birthed by an Air Force brat who was taught to wave my American flag and abide by the Republican values and politics instilled by my mom’s father…this is what I have to say: Latinos need to vote for Obama! Why do I do searches online and find thousands of articles regarding Black and Hispanic tension? There are so many types of Latino/Hispanic cultures, and we are all put in the same category or box to check as far as ethnicity, yet when we get our drivers license or identification cards we are classified as white. We are NOT white we are as minority as blacks yet our minority is the majority. Why aren't we running for office? Maybe for some of the same reason we just recently in the past few years got a sitcom on network TV (The George Lopez show) and it has already been canceled. “TV just became really, really white again,” Lopez said. George Lopez backs Obama and so do I if we want to see change and make history that positively impacts the future of our children then I suggest we do our research before switching parties based on race alone. I leave you with this to ponder: Who built America, was brought here against their will and forced to be here? Who builds America now and forces their way to be here? Who is underpaid, overlooked, and misrepresented? Who can change that and make “history” “her” story, “my” story, “their” story, “our” story?

Bipolar Moments

I have been diagnosed as bipolar but don’t take the medicine, I pray.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with me, God made me this way.

From time to time I have a mood swing.

It could be about anything…

Just a bipolar incident…and now I have to vent…

My forgetfulness left me sitting for an hour outside a women’s clothing store that specializes in junior miss and plus size clothes. My sister-in law is the manager and I was with her when I realized I left my keys 30 minutes away so I had to sit and wait and observe. In the day and age that embraces plus size and the “real woman” I can say, not all of us if the perfect size 6, and who says size 6 is perfect anyways? Anyhow back to my observation, I think it is a conspiracy…a grocery store, fast food restaurant, and another sit down restaurant all nestled in close proximity to the clothing store. It was lunch hour and I watched several women on a Friday drive from the various food locations to store, mind you it is walking distance. There were more plus size ladies than junior misses this day. Now I myself, have been all over the BMI chart (body mass index), I am no expert. It bothered me how it seemed like a never-ending eat and buy clothes cycle. Why not a gym next door to encourage women to get healthy or BMI calculators posted in the dressing room? I do not hate on big girls, as I am one but I recognize the need to invest time into my body now, or pay for it with my health later. Even losing 5 or 10 pounds can increase your longevity. Small changes can do this, like parking far and walking extra steps to eat and shop, you don’t have to drive two feet to the next destination. Think of your health ladies, that is all I am saying, work a little harder at being the next size down, make small gradual changes and you will look and feel better! You don’t have to finish your lunch, eat slower, pass on the soda, just say no to SUPER SIZE, that 50 cents for extra fries just made your shirt also cost $2 more, and who has time to shoot insulin or take pills? It is a fact a lot of illnesses can be controlled with diet and exercise, true enough there is more to love, but I’d rather love you for a longer time!
